INITIAL CONTACT
IN-HOME-EVALUATION
We come to you.
We'll schedule a convenient time to visit the home, meet with the senior and talk about any safety concerns or challenges they may be experiencing.

We identify practical solutions.
After the evaluation,
we'll review our
findings and discuss recommendations based on the individual needs of the senior and the home.
RECOMMENDATIONS

We come back and
get to work.
When appropriate, we'll schedule a follow-up visit to provide or install the recommended safety improvements.
ACTION VISIT
Our safety recommendations are just that — recommendations.
When we’re invited into someone’s home, we have the utmost respect for the space we’ve been welcomed into.
The first, and most important, place our eyes and ears are focused is on the person we’re visiting. What does their day-to-day life look like? How are they doing? What matters most to them?
When we come back with suggestions for creating a safer home, remember that it’s just a conversation — not an obligation. Our goal is to listen, understand, and offer ideas that may help make their home safer and more comfortable, while respecting that it is ultimately their home and their choice.

Every senior and every home is different. That's why our approach is personal.
During an evaluation, we look at the home as a whole — from entrances and stairs to bathrooms, lighting and other areas where a simple improvement could make everyday life safer and easier.
There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. We focus on what makes sense for you and your home.
SAFETY LOOKS DIFFERENT IN EVERY HOME.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE EVALUATION?
Once we’ve had a chance to sit down, get to know each other, and talk about any concerns, we’ll begin our walk through the home.
We typically start outside with a walk around the perimeter, then move through the basement and bulkhead, working our way up through each level of the home. Along the way, we’ll look for potential safety concerns while keeping the resident’s needs, routines, and comfort at the center of the visit.
After the walkthrough, we’ll sit down together again to review what we’ve discussed, talk through the resident’s concerns, and share our observations and recommendations.
If modifications are agreed upon, the Cohasset Cares team will arrange for the necessary materials and installation during a follow-up “Action Visit,” scheduled at a time that works best for the senior.
